Robert Eugene Thornhill, 81, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at his residence.
Born on October 2, 1939, in Gray Court, he was a son of the late Ralph Eugene and Lottie Campbell Thornhill. He was the owner and operator of Prosperity Metal and Recycling. Mr. Thornhill had served in the South Carolina National Guard. He had been the Chief of Lake Murray Rescue Squad for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Cagle Thornhill; sons, Michael Robin (Heather) Thornhill, Christopher Thornhill and Marculus “Mark” (Shawnda) Thornhill; daughters, Pamela (Bachman) Pugh and Brandy (Daniel) Watson; a brother James Thornhill; gradchildren, Andrew R. Pugh, Miranda (Wayne) Kinard, Tessa Watson, Colton Watson, Gavin Thornhill, Chanler Thornhill, Chance Thornhill, Ryan Thornhill, Stormie Michael Harris and Brian Thornhill and great-granddhildren, Reagan Kinard, Rosalia Thornhill, Hannah Rhodes, Bently Thornhill and Braylee Thornhill. Mr. Thornhill was predeceased by a grandson, Chase Thornhill and siblings, Richard Thornhill, Sherry Ann Thornhill and Shirley Diane Thornhill.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Eddie Bledsoe. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
