Robert Alvin Turner, Jr., 75, of Newberry, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at his residence.
Born on October 19, 1941, in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Robert Alvin Turner, Sr. and Essie Enlow Turner Suit. He served in the S.C. National Guard and retired from American Fiber and Finishing and was the owner and operator of Turner Lawn Service. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Nell Overstreet Turner; sons, Robert Dale Turner and David Heath “Weisel” Turner both of Newberry; step-sons, Ricky Hendrix, Wilson Hendrix and Gene Hendrix; a step-daughter, Lisa Roton of Newberry; sisters, Nancy T. Shealy and Mary T. Beck both of Newberry; grandchildren, Karli Dakota Turner, Alanah Grace Turner and Robert Dale Turner II; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and his best friend Paul Hawkins. Mr. Turner was predeceased by his sisters, Julia Turner and Catherline Amick.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer and Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
