Robert Wayne Chapman, Sr. , 77, entered eternal life May 13, 2017 at Parkridge Hospital. He was born September 8, 1939 in Whitmire, SC. He was the son of John William Chapman and Martha Koon Chapman. He was predeceased by his brother William (Billy) Chapman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca (Becky) Cumalander Chapman; sons Robert W. (Bobby) Chapman, Jr. and William Bart Chapman; daughters-in-law Laurie Shealy Chapman and Carlotta Long Chapman; grandchildren Anna Chapman Johnson, Evan Johnson, Rett Chapman, Mersadee Chapman, Robert Wayne Chapman, III, Tara Martin Chapman, and John Carlton Chapman; great-grandchildren Madelyne Johnson and Cameron Johnson.

Wayne retired after 30 years from SCE&G in 1999. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the children of Little Mountain Elementary as a volunteer in the library where all the children called him “Granddaddy Wayne.” His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Mountain, SC. He served on committees, coached church softball, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served on church council. He also coached Dixie Youth Baseball teams sponsored by Little Mountain Ruritan Club. He enjoyed his many treasured friends and his church family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 14 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, Newberry, SC. Services will be held Monday, May 15 at 3:00 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Mountain, SC and burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anna Johnson; Evan Johnson; Rett Chapman; Mersadee Chapman; Robert Chapman, III; Tara Chapman; Carlton Chapman; Ryan Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers: Little Mountain High School Class of 1957 , Fellowship Hall Sunday School Class, Members of the Little mountain Ruritan Dixie Youth Team Wayne coached.
