Rocky Allen Morris of Prosperity was born June 25, 1959 and died October 20, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Smith Morris, daughter Erica Slatten and her husband Jonathan, parents Calvin and Patsy Morris and numerous other family members and friends.
Rev. Rocky Morris was best known as the founder of Rocky Morris Ministries where he ministered internationally for more than 25 years. Through this ministry he presented the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the hundreds of songs he wrote.
While known as a Christian Country Recording Artist, Rocky was also an ordained minister serving as a member of The Council of Bishops for AEGA Ministries Int’l Inc. He was held in high regard in this Fellowship for his impeccable character and deep knowledge of the Word of God having held a Doctorate of Divinity. From this position he was able to launch a ministry dedicated to the “Cowboy Church Community”. He founded ICCAN, Inc. (International Cowboy Church Alliance Network) a little over 3 years ago. Under his leadership it has grown to a membership reaching thousands around the world.
Before entering the ministry he was proud to serve his country in U.S. Navy aboard the USS McInerney. After his enlistment he returned home to Prosperity, SC and began his music career.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 25, 2013, at Wightman United Methodist Church by the Rev. Billy Slatten. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family have asked instead of flowers donations can be sent through the Rocky Morris Website.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Slatten, Scott Smith, Mike Smith, Alex Pallang, Terry Morris, Keith Lowery, Rex McCarter and John Rutland.
