Rodger Eargle

Rodger Waldo Eargle, 76, of Pomaria, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Brookdale Brushy Creek Senior Living in Greer.


Born on February 22, 1947, in Newberry, he was the son of the late Francis Waldo and Emma Wiggers Eargle.  He was a 1965 graduate of Mid Carolina High School. He retired from South Carolina Electric and Gas at the McMeekin Station after 38 years of service and was a member of the SCE&G Foreman's Club. Mr. Eargle was a member of Pomaria Lutheran Church and the Mid Carolina Lions Club. He and his wife enjoyed shopping for antiques. He took great pride in his garden each year and found great joy in being able to share his harvest with neighbors and friends.


Mr. Eargle is survived by his wife, Ella Rae Bouknight Eargle and a daughter, Kimberly Eargle of Woodruff.


Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, February 1, 2024 in the Pomaria Cemetery by the Rev. Michele Fischer. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be made to Brookdale Senior Living, 2010 Brushy Creek Road, Greer, SC 29650.


Active pallbearers will be Jacob Epting, Ingram Epting, Tony Shell, Tyler Shell, Tanner Shell, Mike Summer, Tim Miller and David Gulledge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Wessinger, L. D. Aull and co-workers at SCE&G McMeekin Station.
