Roy Edwin Caldwell, 74, of Silverstreet, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at his residence.
Born on October 1, 1948, in Newberry, he was the son of the late Don Caldwell and Mabel Bell Phillips. He was also predeceased by his father that reared him, Welton Phillips, Jr. Mr. Caldwell was an Army veteran and retired from West Electric and following retirement worked at the Newberry Country Club. He enjoyed the sport of golf and always looked forward to his weekly round on Thursday. He was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Buffie Wicker (James) of Prosperity, Lisa Caldwell (Abel Guerrero) of Pomaria, Tara Caldwell and Lacey Caldwell (Kelvin Kibler) both of Silverstreet; a brother, Bobby “Catfish” Phillips of Newberry; grandchildren, Cody Wicker, Thalia Gaitan, Lucia Gaitan, Isabella Chaidez, Sandra Chaidez, Aubrianna Chaidez ,Rose Duhamel, Lilly Duhamel, Ronald “Red” Duhamel, Love Caldwell, Royal Williams, Revel Williams and Kelvin Kibler, Jr and a great-grandson, Keanu Jeter.
Mr. Caldwell was predeceased by a sister, Roxie Cockrell and a brother, Ronnie Caldwell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
