Roy Stribble

Walter Leroy “Roy” Stribble, 74, of Newberry died Monday, May 13, 2019 at his residence.

Born on August 18, 1944 in Newberry, he was the son of the late Walter Clarence “Hump” and Eula Rae Fulmer Stribble. He retired as the manager of Suburban Propane after 40 years of service. He was also a horse farrier for over 50 years. Mr. Stribble was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church and a Mason where he had served as a Past Master.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Collier Stribble; a daughter, Tavy Stribble of Newberry; sons, Brent (Jeannie) Stribble and Dusty “Booty” Stribble both of Newberry; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Stribble was predeceased by a sister, Allene Monroe.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to MSA Hospice, 2228 Harrington Street, Newberry, SC 29108. The family request that those attending come in casual attire.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Richardson, Matt Richardson, P.J. Richardson, Landon Stribble, Jeff Livingston and Jamie Lusk.
