William Royce Counts, 72, of Newberry, widower of Anne Wheeler Counts, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his residence.
Born on July 30, 1943, in Newberry, he was the son of the late William Cecil and Annie Kinard Counts. He served in the S.C. National Guard and was retired from the Newberry County School Bus Shop. He was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church where he had sung in the church choir. He was a member of Woodmen of the World.
Mr. Counts is survived by his companion, Brenda Broadwell and her daughter, Melissa Adair; a brother-in-law, John (Sylvia) Wheeler; niece and her fiancée, Brigitte Wheeler and Ronnie Derrick; a nephew, Johnny (Melba) Wheeler, great-nieces, Brittany (Dylan) Taylor, Nikki (Tyler) Poag; great-nephew, Jonathan Austin Wheeler; two great-great-nephews and special friend, Millie (Scottie) Hatchell. Mr. Counts was predeceased by a son, William Gregg Counts.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, November 13, 2015, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church Handicap Fund, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Wheeler, Austin Wheeler, Tyler Poag, Dylan Taylor, Steve Kinard, and Robert Dennis.
