Ruby Martin

Ruby Louise Martin, 95, of Prosperity, widow of Ellis W. Martin, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at NHC Lexington.

Born on December 10, 1917, in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late B. Lee and Emma Rister Shealy. She was retired from the University of Maryland and was the oldest member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Goldies.

Mrs. Martin is survived by a son, Ellis W. (Joan) Martin, Jr. of West Columbia; grandchildren, Martha (David) Sharpe, Marianne (Greg) Adams, Jean Martin and Alan (Mitzi) Martin; great-grandchildren, Chris (Sara) Williams, Corey (Aimee) Williams, Jake Branham, Matt Martin and Luke Martin. She was predeceased by grandsons, Michael Martin and Tommy Martin and all of her siblings.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 2:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Randall Derrick. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to the charity of one's choice.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
