Rudine Fulmer Long, 91, of Newberry, widow of J. Haskell Long and Gerald Hodge, died May 5, 2013 at her residence.

Born on August 9, 1921 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Murray Oscar and Mary Jane Fulmer. She retired from the Newberry County School District as the Cafeteria Manager for Boundary and Speers Street Schools. She was a member of Colony Lutheran Church where she was a Life Member of the Women of Colony, a former Luther League adviser, and a former Sunday School teacher. She participated in the Newberry County Council on Aging and the Hartford Community Center Quilters.

She is survived by daughters, Mary Ellen Sligh and her husband Jimmy of Newberry and Janet Long and her husband James of Newberry; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Long of Newberry; 9 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her son, James Haskell Long.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Colony Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Juvenile Diabetes Association, Palmetto Chapter, 810 Dutch Square Blvd., Ste. 114, Columbia, SC 29210.

The family appreciated all of the love and care given by her caregivers during the her final months.
