James Rudolph Bouknight, 85, of Newberry, widower of Carolyn Smith Bouknight, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at White Oak Manor.

Born on August 22, 1930, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Willie Floyd and Lucy Cromer Bouknight. Mr. Bouknight served in the S.C. National Guard and worked at Newberry Mills. In retirement, he enjoyed working and fellowship at the Newberry Council on Aging. He was a member of O'Neal Street United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men.

He is survived by sons, Joel Bouknight and Darryn Bouknight. He was the youngest of six children and was predeceased by all of his siblings which were Ruth Wicker, Doris Wise, Nedra Turner, Charles Bouknight and Carman Bouknight.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 22, 2015, at O'Neal Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Newberry County Council on Aging, 1300 Hunt Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to O'Neal Street United Methodist Church, 511 O'Neal Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Lewis Lee, Perry Threatt, Andrew Shealy, Lewis Boyd, Dell Rowe and Clarence Livingston.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the O'Neal Street United Methodist Church Men and the staff of White Oak Manor.
