Jacob Rudolph “Rudy” Sheely, 82, of Little Mountain, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at his residence.

Born on August 11, 1933, in Little Mountain, he was the son of the late Jacob Elonzo and Hattie Hercelia Stoudemayer Sheely. He graduated Newberry College in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Sheely taught school in Clinton, SC, was employed with the S.C. Highway Department and retired after 33 years with Tarmac America, Inc. as sales manager. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Columbia and the Little Mountain Ruritan. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he had the privilege of serving in various roles on many of the programs and committees within the church, all of which have been a source of joy and fulfillment to be able to serve the Lord in this way. Some of those activities included the Church Council, Lutheran Men, Choir, Treasurer, Youth Ministry and Sunday School where he was a teacher and Superintendent.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shelby Richardson Sheely; a son, Jay (Charlotte) Sheely of Little Mountain; daughters, Rudell Lester of Mt. Pleasant and Kimberly (Rod) Steffy of Chapin; sisters, Sarah Paysinger of Phoenix, AZ and Betty Ann Shealy of Chapin; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and special friend and cargiver, Tessie Mendenhall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brett Collins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Trinity Life Center at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the church building fund, PO Box 186, Little Mountain, SC 29075.

Active pallbearers will be Lynn Shealy, Danny Shealy, Wayne Shealy, Jimmy Sheely, Parker Lester, Connor Steffy and Tanner Steffy.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Men.
