Ruth L. Ruff

Ruth Livingston Ruff, 86, widow of Walter “Jack” Eugene Ruff, Sr., entered rest eternal peacefully on the morning of Thursday, March 1, 2018 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on June 25, 1931 in Newberry, she was the daughter of Henry Hamilton Livingston, Sr. and Vera Kinard Livingston. She retired from Damon International after working in the textile industry for many years. Mrs. Ruff was a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church and a beautiful example of humble faith and unwavering trust in Christ.

With warmth and love, Mrs. Ruff embraced, her family and friends. Always a caregiver, she tended to the needs of others, blessing many with her strength and compassion, but none more than her late husband of 54 years. Her kindness was radiated onto all she met. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers, cooking delicious meals, and crocheting afghans and stocking hats.

She is survived by her children, Jackie R. (Gordon) Eargle, Walter E. “Bo” (Darlene) Ruff, Jr, Mary Dawn R. (Randy) Mills, Henry L. “Tugg” (Nancy) Ruff; grandchildren, Skipper (Charley) Livingston, Justin Ruff, Jaclyn (Russel) Sease, Amy Gallman, Eric (Briana) Eargle, Nicole Gibson, Laurie (Christopher) Connelly, and Ion Ruff; step-grandchildren, Tracey Sims, Shelley (Brian) Baity, Stacy (Michael) Mills, Shannon (T.C.) Bowers, and Adam Crouch; and her great-grandchildren whom she adored. Mrs. Ruff became “Mawmaw” to any who entered her home and lovingly welcomed all as her own. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Henry Livingston, Jr., and sisters, Pearl Pullen, and Dorothy Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at her residence and will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip’s Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Skipper Livingston, Justin Ruff, Eric Eargle, Christopher Connelly, Ion Ruff, and Evan Ruff.
