Ruthie Taylor

Ruthie Hicks Taylor, 77, of Pomaria, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her residence.

Born on May 22, 1936, in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Nugent Brand Hicks, Jr. and Wilma Ruth Newton Hicks. She was the retired co-owner of Hailes Restaurant and a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Newberry Community Choir.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Edgar “Eddie” J. Taylor; a son, Mark S. Taylor of Leesville; daughters, Mandy T. Moss and her husband, Samuel J. Moss, Sr. and Pat T. Cowart and her husband, Calvin W. Cowart; a sister and brother-in-law, Trudy H. and John C. Shell of Pomaria; grandchildren, Joshua S. Taylor, Kaitlyn E. Taylor and James Stacy Passmore.

Memorial services will be held at 4:30 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 3:30 -4:15 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heartstring Hospice, 115 Blaney Drive, Columbia, SC 29223.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Newberry Community Choir.
