Sam Walters

Sammie W. “Sam” Walters, 62, of Pomaria, widower of Peppie C. Walters died April 24, 2013, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on December 10, 1950, in Columbia, he was a son of the late J. Floyd and Margaret Smith Walters. He was a retired carpenter and was formerly employed by Agnew's Lake Services and the Mid-Carolina Country Club. Sam loved fishing, cars, boats, motorcycles, his family and his friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Kaitlyn “Katie” Walters of Pomaria; a sister, Kay Jones and her husband Dan of Taylorsville, NC; a brother, Don Walters and wife Lynne of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Dickie Walters.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry conducted by the Rev. Terry Amick. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the Kaitlyn Walters Scholarship Fund, c/o First Citizens Bank, P.O. Drawer 9, Prosperity, SC 29127.
