Sammy Graham Rawls, 69, of Pomaria, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on April 11, 1945, in Newberry, he was a son of the late McDonald and Vennie Graham Rawls. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a life-time member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was involved with the Go Group.

Mr. Rawls is survived by his wife, Ella Margaret Boland Rawls; a son, Dr. Benjamin Rawls of Irmo and a brother, Tony (Gay) Rawls of Prosperity. He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Donald Rawls, sisters, Sadie Evelyn Rawls and Daphene Aull and brothers, Jacob Donald Rawls, Sr. and Bobby Rawls.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Kathy Carr, Rev. Sheila Rodgers and Rev. Albert Cox. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church building fund, c/o Robert Davis, 256 Graham Cemetery Road, Pomaria, SC 29126 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Active pallbearers will be John Amick, Robert Davis, Nick Morris, Don Rawls, Neal Rawls and Brad Ruff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dianne and Roger Graham, Judy Amick, Ion and Annie Rose Stuck, Karen Hamill, Mike and Risa Cromer, Andy and Willie Morris, Jimmy and Phyllis Metts, Mike Long, Alice Davis, Nancy Morris and Dr. Carroll Pinner.
