Samuel Ray Frick, 92, of Little Mountain, died Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at his residence.
Born in Little Mountain on September 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Claude E. and Rachel Long Frick. He graduated from Little Mountain High School in 1950. After graduation, he went to work with his father laying brick. He was a brick mason for over 55 years working with his brother George and his father until they each retired. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where he served numerous times on the church council, on numerous Church committees and Sunday School teacher for one of the adult classes for 53 years. He loved gardening, cutting wood, making furniture, restoring old tractors and going on tour bus trips. He greatly enjoyed tending to his miniature horses, Zipper and Belle. He loved spending time with his family and friends and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Birdie Marie Shealy Frick; daughters, Wanda (Paul) Rumfelt and Lavenia (David) Simmons all of Little Mountain; four grandchildren, Paul Rumfelt, III, Alicia (Shane) Stroud, Rachel (Franklin) Cheeks, Josh (Charlie) Simmons; five great-grandchildren, Skyler and Cheyenne Stroud, Toby Rumfelt, Ella and Madeline Cheeks; a sister, Juanita Lindler of Prosperity; a brother, Jake (Linda) Frick of Little Mountain; sister in-laws Hilda Frick and Mary Alice Frick. He also had numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, brothers, John W. “Billy” Frick and George E. Frick.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rich Johnston. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 816 Mt. Tabor Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
Active pallbearers will be grandchildren.
