Samuel H Jefcoat of Aiken passed away on December 12, 2017.
Sam was born December 18, 1965 in Elmhurst, IL to D. H. “Jeff” and the late Cora Jean Merritt Jefcoat. He graduated with a BS in Psychology and a JD in Law from the University of South Carolina. He opened his own law practice in 2005 on Main Street in Newberry. Prior to going into private practice, Sam was an attorney with the Pope & Hudgens Law Firm.
Sam loved and was a patron of the arts. He was an avid supporter of the Newberry Opera House, both enjoying shows and singing with the Palmetto Opera on stage. Sam was most proud of the singing he did with the Palmetto Mastersingers. With the group, he sang twice at the White House. The group also performed throughout Europe, and during Sam’s tenure as President, they toured Russia. In addition to the Masters Singers, Sam was actively involved with his wife, Pamela’s, equestrian endeavors, although he only rode twice in his life. With Pamela, Sam recently acted as co-editor and publisher of a book soon to be released.
He is survived his wife, Pamela Maury Jefcoat, father, D.H. “Jeff” Jefcoat, sister, Pamela Jefcoat Holt, brother, Michael D Jefcoat (Joan Beck), brother, Douglas M Jefcoat (Jeanne); nieces and nephews, Hanna Jefcoat Summerlin (John), Amanda Holt Corey (George), Kathryn Holt, Tyler K. Jefcoat (Emily), Stewart K. Jefcoat(DeAnn), Shelby Jefcoat Dunn (Sean), Jenna Hackaday Lowery (Dan) and Sarah Hackaday; great-nieces and newphews, Ellie Summerlin, Will Summerlin, Merritt Corey, Maggie Jefcoat, Bonnie Jefcoat, Cora Leigh Jefcoat, Jacob Jefcoat, Ava Jane Jefcoat, Georgia Anne Jefcoat and Kate Lowery and cousins.
The family will have a Celebration of Sam’s Life at a later date.
