Sara Long DeHart, 81, a resident of Regency Woods, Newberry, widow of Virgil R. DeHart, died Friday, September 2, 2011.
Born on August 13, 1930, in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late Richard Simpson and Pearl Amick Long. She was retired from ISE-America and was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church.
Mrs. DeHart is survived by sons, Richard L. (Ann) DeHart and John W. DeHart both of Newberry; sisters, Ruby Leopard of Newberry, Jonelle Dixon of Pomaria and Johnnie Lowder of Charlotte, NC; a brother, George R. Long of Pomaria; grandchildren, Amy D. Orne and Todd D. Oswald and great-grandchildren, Tanner Orne and Phillip Orne. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Louise Kinard and Jean Suber Kinard.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bill McDonald and Rev. Gary Pierstorff. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family is at 2708 Collinswood Drive, Newberry and will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
