Sarah Singley Smith

Sarah Singley Smith, 93, of Newberry, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at White Oak Manor.

Born on April 10, 1917, in Prosperity, SC she was a daughter of the late George David and Louise Ellisor Singley. She was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith passed her love of gardening and flowers on to her family.

Surviving is her daughter-in-law, Gail Ellis Singley, of Lexington; granddaughters, Mary Ann Singley Simons of Lexington, and Phyllis Singley Ray and her husband Jim of Beaufort; a sister, Helen Bundrick of Whitmire; 6 great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased in death by her husband, Jeff Smith, Jr.; a son, Bobby Carrol Singley; brothers, Thomas and David Singley; and a sister, Drunell Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, January 2, 2011 in Pomaria Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to White Oak Manor of Newberry, 2555 Kinard Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
