Garret Sebastian Phillips, 18, of Newberry, died Sunday, June 26, 2011.
He was a 2011 honor graduate of Newberry High School and was in the All State and Regional band. He was a member of the youth orchestra of the Low Country where he played the upright bass for six years. He played the guitar for nine years. Sebastian was a beautiful soul, very energetic, unique with a deep passion for music. He always had an open heart to all he met, and touched the lives of so many. He had a great sense of humor. He loved traveling, books, enjoyed swimming, the outdoors where he fished and especially enjoyed hiking.
He is survived by his mother, Hamilton “Prissy” Phillips; grandparents, Tony and Jean Phillips; aunt, Veronique Snelgrove; uncles, Anthony Phillips and Russell Severance; beloved dog, Intay and many cousins, friends and other family members.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family is at the residence of his grandparents, 2216 Springdale Drive, Newberry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Harris, Thomas Chambliss, Bradley Gallman, Martin Ray Snelgrove, Roth Williams, Raul Alfonso, Jonathon Hamilton and Ernie Young.
