Shirley Wilson Cagle

Shirley Irene Wilson Cagle, 92, of Prosperity, widow of Paul Vance Cagle, died January 6, 2011.

Born on April 12, 1918, in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Maggie Lanford Wilson. She was a former employee of Clinton Mills and was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. Mrs. Cagle loved fishing, gardening, and animals.

She is survived by sons; Larry Cagle and wife Sandra, Jerry Cagle and wife Edna, Gary Cagle and wife Ordell and Paul Cagle all of Laurens; a daughter, Nancy Thornhill and husband Robert of Prosperity; sisters, Josephine Baker of Clinton and Linda Thompson of Newberry; a brother, Joseph Wilson of Laurens; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Maggie C. Rish; sisters, Ophelia Harrison, and Rossie Scott; a great granddaughter, Heather Howard, and a great-grandson, Chase Thornhill.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thornhill, 3709 Wheeland School Road, Prosperity. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, P.O. Box 352, Newberry, SC 29108.
