Stella Cotney

Stella Frick Cotney, 95, of Joanna widow of Virgil Lee Cotney, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born on February 26, 1918, in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Horace Dale and Bessie Connelly Frick. She retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Cotney Boothe of Clinton; a son, Bruce H. (Peggy) Cotney of Inman; sisters, Mozelle McKay of Newberry and Olive (Pickle) Gruber of Joanna; grandchildren, Eva (Jeff) Evans, Melissa (Lane) Cook, Stacy (Steven) Shirey, Timothy (Angela) Cotney, Donald (Missy) Boothe, Angela (Nick) Davis, and Bruce Cotney, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Cotney was predeceased by a son, Larry Lee Cotney and his wife Alice Hughes Cotney, and sisters Evelyn Hawkins, Frances Hamrick, and Dale Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Joanna. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm – 1:45 pm at the church.
