Steve Morris

Steve Allen Morris, 69 of Prosperity, died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born in Newberry, on June 23, 1949, he was a son of the late Herman and Hester Lee Hendrix Morris. He retired from the City of Newberry and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Steve loved fishing and playing golf. He enjoyed playing music and taking trips to the mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Morris; a son, Terry (Kathy) Morris of Prosperity; step-children, Karen, Donnie, Frankie, and Kerry; a grandson, Michael Allen Morris; step-grandchildren, Ashley Swygert, Michael Murphy, Amber Shealy, Brittany Farrington, Brandon Shealy, Cryastal Shealy, Stephanie Shealy, and Eric Shealy; many step-great-grandchildren; and a special nephew Anthony (Missy) Dennis. He was predeceased by sisters, Diane Dennis and Annette Morris, and by a brother, Marvin “Red”Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 30, 2018 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts.  Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the Newberry County Humane Society, PO Box 485, Newberry, SC 29108. The family is at the home of Ashley Swygert, 1100 Timberwood Trail, Newberry.

Active pallbearers will be Alan Bickley, Larry Longshore, Lloyd Brigman, Travis Kinard, Ken Swygert, Scott Green and Kenny Livingston.
