Sue Marsh

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister, Sue Moore Marsh, 85, of Newberry, SC, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at McCall's Hospice, surrounded by her loving children, after a courageous battle with cancer. A devoted matriarch and a respected member of her community, she was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed by her family and all who knew her. 

Born on October 7, 1939, in Hoboken, Georgia, Sue graduated salutatorian from Hoboken High School before earning a degree in education from Georgia Southern Teachers College. A dedicated educator and coach, she inspired generations of young athletes through her leadership in basketball and volleyball at both Newberry Middle School and Newberry First Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard; her parents, Sterling and Edith Moore; and her sisters, Genevieve Larmeu and Billie Moskoviotz. 

Sue is survived by her daughter, Eileen Marsh Kneece (Mitchell) of Saluda; her son, Patrick Gregory Marsh (Melissa) of Fountain Inn; six grandchildren, Kristin Kneece, Kelli Kneece (Tony Valdez), Darren Marsh, Cody Marsh (Blythe), Dylan Guion, and Mason Guion; and two great-grandchildren, Carter Robles and Emma Robles. She also leaves behind two nieces, a nephew, and a host of cherished family and friends who will forever hold her memory close. 

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private interment will take place at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sue's memory to Newberry First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108
