Tennie Madison "Sonny" Longshore, 82, of Newberry, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born on October 7,1942 in Newberry, he was the son of the late Junius Madison and Narvice Koon Longshore. He was a 1960 graduate of Newberry High School. He was a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard, and a founding member and volunteer for 63 years at the Silverstreet Fire Department. He retired at age 80 as the Maintenance Manager with Hilton Hotels, Hampton Inn Newberry. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Amity Masonic Lodge #87 AFM and an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. Sonny enjoyed going to the Friday night dances at The Yellow Rock Dance Hall in West Columbia, and farming on his family land.
Sonny is survived by three children, a daughter, Tina Nichols (Tommy) of Prosperity; two sons, Kevin Longshore (Becky) of Newberry, and Ken Longshore (Vesta) of Woodruff; three grandchildren, Jake Longshore (fiancé Andie) and Drew Longshore both of Prosperity, and Arie Longshore of Pomaria; two step-grandchildren, Brianna Harris (Austin) and Baylee Kinard both of Newberry; and one step-great grandchild Harper June Harris; one sister, June Longshore Pitts of Newberry; two nieces Tracie Pitts Turner of Newberry, and Julie Pitts Leopard of Saluda and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Silverstreet Fire Department, Rosetta Wise and the staff of the Newberry Hampton Inn.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Generations of Chapin for the care shown to Sonny during his time there, the Lexington Medical Center CCU staff, and Pastor Jason Schafer for his weekly visits.
