Thomas Edward McDonald, 80, of Clover, widower of Nancy Stone McDonald, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at his residence.
Born on April 19, 1937, in Hodges, he was one of eleven children born to Henry Otto and Sarah Mitchell McDonald. He started with Winn Dixie in 1953 where he held numerous positions during his career. He retired as the Senior Vice President. Mr. McDonald served as the Chairman of the United Fund in Lancaster, Vice President of the Jaycees, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Newberry College. He was a member of River Hills Community Church where he served on the church council. He enjoyed golf, travel, painting and spending time with his family
He is survived by daughters, Katherine (Eric) Hinson of Clover and Georganna (Hobie) Walker of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; a sister, Dot Wrenn of Greenwood; brothers, Wayne McDonald of Hilton Head and Bob McDonald of Charlotte; grandchildren, Kate Hinson and Thomas (Bryanne) Hinson, Mac Walker and Sarah Walker and a great-grandson, Thomas Hinson, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry, South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 16, 2018, at River Hills Community Church in Lake Wyle, South Carolina conducted by the Rev. Gayle Montgomery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care & Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
