Thomas Yon

Thomas Earl Yon, 65, of Newberry, died Monday, December 13, 2010.

Born April 6, 1945, in Newberry, a son of Ruth Willingham Yon and the late Edward Pearson Yon. Mr. Yon worked for Newberry Auto-NAPA for ten years and retired from Sunrise Auto-Care Quest after twenty five years. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church; a charter member of the Newberry Moose Lodge where he was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Legion of the Moose. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #87 AFM, the York Rites Bodies and was a Shriner.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Ruth Yon of Newberry, is his wife, Judy Hinson Yon; daughters, Angela Hope (Rob) Erhardt of Little Mountain, Amy Lynn (Barry) Shealy and Amanda Ruth (Tommy) Yon-Price both of Newberry; grandchildren, Joshua Erhardt, Jessica Erhardt, Dakota Erhardt, Jenna Shealy, Jacob Shealy, Josie Price, and Devin Price. Mr. Yon was predeceased by his brother, Robert Edward Yon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
