Frank Thomas “Tommy” Brown, 80, of Prosperity, died Friday, December 17, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Heart Hospital.

Born on October 15, 1941, in Prosperity, he was the son of the late Richard Warner and Nelva Adams Brown. He was a US Marine Corp veteran during the Cuban Crisis and was a retired supervisor with McCrory Construction. Mr. Brown was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council several times and was a faithful member of the cemetery committee. He was a member of the Fairview Fire Department, the Little Mountain Masonic Lodge # 281, and Co-President of the Fairview Community Center. He was also a member of the nominating committee at the Newberry Electric Cooperative, a former member of the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and former President of Little Mountain Ruritan Club. He fought a 23 year battle with heart disease.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Janet Hawkins Brown; a son, Paul T. (Tammy) Brown of Prosperity; a daughter, Cynthia Brown of Prosperity; sisters, Martha (Charles) Taylor of Palm Coast, FL and Ruthie Hamm of Prosperity; grandchildren, Summer (CJ) Banks, Chelsea (James) Lawrence and Emily Widener; great-grandchildren, Dominac Banks and Kash Banks; step-great- grandson, Camron Robinson;honorary granddaughter, Caroline Ayers and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Peggy (Dick) Stepp, Barbara A. (Frank) Lyerly and Linda (Vic) Kelley; a grandson, Jeremey Schumpert and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Hamm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 20, 2021, at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Hundley and Rev. Randy Derrick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to the Fairview Fire Department, 149 Seibert Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Advanced Congestive Heart Failure Clinic staff at Prisma Health Richland Heart Hospital for their love and compassion.

Active pallbearers will be Rick Richardson, Leon Fulmer, Jr., Rodney Bedenbaugh, Kenny Fulmer, Mark Hipp and C.J. Banks.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fairview Fire Department and the Little Mountain Masonic Lodge # 281.
