Tommy Connelly

George Thomas “Tommy” Connelly, 85, of Newberry, died Monday, February 14, 2022, at Springfield Place.

Born on June 5, 1936, he was born in Newberry, he was a son of the late George Hugh and Mattie Connelly. Tommy attended Newberry High School and served in the US Air Force. He retired from Shakespeare in Newberry and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Waters Connelly; a daughter, Sandra Beth (Charley) Bramlett; step-daughters, Kathy (David) Young and Annette (Hayne) Davis; siblings, Hugh H. “Buck” (Katie) Connelly, Thelma (John Andrew) Shaw, Verdie “Polly” (Paul) Green and Forrest W. (Paula)
Connelly; grandchildren, Kyle Green and Phillip Jason (Angie) Schumpert; step-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, Amanda Young (Patrick) Norton, Andy (Priscilla) Young, Morgan Young, Lee Davis, Clay (Julia) Cotney and Jason (Lauren) Cotney; great-granddaughter, Abbie Schumpert and step-great-grandchildren, Chloe, Zoey, Eliza and Ethan. Tommy was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Ann McCarty Connelly.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist church, attn. Troy Bowers, 141 Holly Circle, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Springfield Place/Jessie Frank Hawkins, 1330 Kinard Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Cotney, Clay Cotney, Jason Schumpert and David Young.
