Troxel Sligh

Troxel Berley Sligh, 93, of Prosperity, widow of Thomas Claude Sligh, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at her home. 

Born on January 6, 1931, in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late James Hartford and Lula Mae Wicker Berley. She and her husband were the proprietors of Sligh Superette. Mrs. Sligh was a member of New Chapel Methodist Church. 

She is survived by a son, James T. (Renee) Sligh of Prosperity; daughters, Barbara (Roger) Long of Prosperity and Donna (Cary) Frick of Little Mountain; a sister, Shirley Riley of West Columbia; a brother, Donald Berley of Prosperity; grandchildren, Eddie Long, Jamie Long, Derek Frick, Nicole Clark and Joshua Sligh, eleven great-grandchildren and special friends, Melissa Lee, Tina Bowers and Daniel Long. 

Mrs. Sligh was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Fowler and brothers, Everette Berley, Harvey Berley and Billy Berley. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 3, 2025, at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service.
