Una R. Bridges

Una Rikard Bridges, 93, of Newberry, widow of Oliver Franklin “Chick” Bridges, died Friday, August 29, 2014, at her residence.

Born on November 8, 1920, in Leesville, she was a daughter of the late James Q. and Eula Kyzer Rikard. Mrs. Bridges was retired from the Newberry County Memorial Hospital and was a member of O'Neal Street United Methodist Church where she was involved with the Methodist Women. She was also a former member of the Ladies of the Moose.

She is survived by grandsons, Waldy Rivas and Wesly (Ariana) Rivas; sisters, Faye Riddlehoover, Patricia Isenhower and Barbara Keisler; a brother, S.V. Rikard; great-grandchildren, Shaunna, Tristan, Gabrielle, Bailey and Lauren Rivas and great-great-grandchildren, Madeline and Lauren Rivas. Mrs. Bridges was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Margine Rivas-Moss.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 31, 2014, at O'Neal Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sean Kilpatrick. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church on Sunday.
