Vera Bedenbaugh Cotney, 87, of Newberry, widow of Alvin Boyd Cotney, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Born on April 1, 1929, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late James Simpson and Toye Epting Bedenbaugh. She was retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was a loving wife to her husband and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Cotney is survived by a son, Dean (Melody) Cotney of Newberry; daughters, Donna (Jimmy) Berley of Pomaria, Cindy (Ronny) Morris of Newberry and Dianne (Claude) Calloway of Anderson; special friends and neighbors, Raymond and Faye Morris; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, Jimmy Bedenbaugh, McFall Bedenbaugh, Eula Bedenbaugh, Hazel Cotney and Helen Martin.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum. Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 2704 Nance Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Martin Summer, Clay Cotney, Jason Cotney, Damen Roton, Jamey Roton and Grant Armstrong.
