Virgie Goree

Virgie Moore Goree, 86, of Newberry, widow of Jack Goree, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 24, 1929, in Union, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Minnie Lee Sanders Moore. Mrs. Goree retired as a registered nurse from Newberry County Memorial Hospital and was a member of College Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna A. Bumgardner; a brother, Donald Moore; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Goree was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 12, 2015, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Waco Cotney.  Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Jacy Mitchell, Joel Mitchell, Collin Paul-Hus, Stephane Paul-Hus, Karl Rohland and Doug Wicker.
