Von Long Counts, 77, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 23, 1943, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late C.B. “Red” and Nell Long Counts. He was retired from the University of South Carolina Motor Pool and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Counts was a 30 plus year volunteer with the Fairview Fire Department.
He is survived by a son, Ronald B. (Gina) Counts of Prosperity; daughters, Alice Counts of Prosperity and Marie Counts (Lisa) Spell of Lexington; a sister, Rachel Counts of Prosperity; brothers, Wayne B. (Mary Grace) Counts of Americus, GA and Gene L. Counts of Prosperity; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tara (David) Lawson, Leah & Reid, Elizabeth Nell (Chad) White, Mason & Gene Southwick, Victoria (David) Counts, Ethan, Brantley and Henry, Dalton (LeAnn) Counts and Kayley Counts. He was predeceased by a brother Jimmy R. Counts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church by the Reverend Mike Townsend. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church family life center. Memorials may be made to the Fairview Fire Department, 149 Seibert Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Dalton Counts, Chad Southwick, Blake Davis, Scott Livingston, David Lawson and Bryan Counts.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Newberry County Fire Service and John Pugh.
