Walter Garnett

Walter Coleman Garnett, 81, of Belmont, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Courtland Terrace.

He was born in Greenville to the late J.W. And Annie Kesterson Garnett. He attended Unity Baptist Church and East Belmont Baptist Church. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Miller Garnett; daughters and sons-in-law, Trish and John Anderson of Gastonia, NC, Sherrie and Fred Neal of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Marshal Anderson, Page (Ryan) King, Hannah Anderson, Mallory Neal, Sophie Neal, Anna Neal; great-grandchildren, Maddie Reisner, Cameron King; sisters, Alice Farr, Donna (Ronny) Davenport and Lavone Coats; a brother, Homer (Edna) Garnett.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 25, 2014, in the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont, NC. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice c/o Robin Johnson Hospice House, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
