Walter "Bo" Koon

Walter Edward “Bo” Koon, Sr., 84, of Prosperity, widower of Mary Jean Ringer Koon, died Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on February 23, 1931, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Annie Lou Richardson Koon. He was an Air Force veteran, retired from Duke Power, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mr. Koon was a member of the Newberry Shrine Club, the Hejaz Temple, Scottish Rite and Amity Lodge # 87 AFM.

He is survived by his son, Eddie (Susan) Koon; grandchildren, Jason (Kayla) Koon, Jennifer (Brian) Beck and Rick (Mindy) Hope; great-grandchildren, Lila, Laila and Livie Koon, Karalie Beck and Issac Hope. He was predeceased by a daughter, Tina Bedenbaugh.

Funeral services will 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brent Nichols. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Koon, Rick Hope, Hank Dowd, Stan Shealy, Carrie Cromer, Jr. and Russell Bedenbaugh.
