David Dwain “Wayne” Crawford, 55, of Newberry, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on September 10, 1959, in Waynesville, NC, he was a son of the late William C. and Mary Brown Crawford. Wayne was an employee of H.T. Hackney and a member of O'Neal Street United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Newberry High School Bulldogs.

He is survived by his wife, Lanel Counts Crawford; a sister, Darlene Garland; aunts and uncles, Irene Brown, Geneva Sunrey, Betty Williams, Lee Beauchemin, Rev. Calvin Brown and Harley Brown; several nieces and nephews including Lynetta Shealy, Cecilia Garland, Sheena Wagers, Shaun Garland, Virgil Briggs, and Fred Briggs; great-nephews and nieces, Casey Wayne Shealy, Michael Sugibayashi, Kaylee Littton, Briaanna Litton, Savannah Litton, Makenzie Litton and Brandi Wagers; special friends, Louie Henderson and Tony Gonce; adopted children, Ashley Dickert, Trey Dickert, Brittany Dickert, Gena Hendrix Roton, Corey Price, Colin Price, Cassidy Price, Morgan Thomas, Jenna Thomas, Tr e' Singleton, Keith Singleton, Chris Singleton and Jonate Taylor . Mr. Crawford was predeceased by a sister, Judy Shealy, brothers, William Crawford and Jess Crawford and a nephew, Jeffrey Crawford.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Terry Amick and Rev. David Inman. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family will be at 1815 Glenn Street Ext., Newberry, SC. Memorials may be made to O'Neal Street United Methodist Church, 501 O'Neal Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Corey Bishop, Will Cook, Tony Henderson, Terry Price, Chris Reppart, Lorenzo Tapia and David Westgate.
