George Wayne Hiller, 63, of Newberry, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at home with family and friends at his bedside.
Born on September 23, 1948, in Newberry, he was a son of the late George and Josie Derrick Hiller. Mr. Hiller served in the United States Army for four years during which he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway System and was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bennie Sue Turner Hiller; a brother, Von Oliver Hiller of Prosperity; nieces, Billie Jo Hiller Rawlings, Randi Chavis and Brandie Hiller Greenwood and nephews, Micah Turner, Johnny Willis, Billy Willis and Jeremy Hiller. Mr. Hiller was predeceased by a brother, Billy Hiller
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 20, 2012, at Wightman United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Turner. Burial with military honors will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00- 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the WARM Project at Wightman United Methodist Church, PO Box 376, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Bryant, Billy Cromer, Rick Long, Billy Willis, Red McDonald, Mark Bowers, Randy Suber, Bruce Reuter, Jimmy Rawlings and Marian Reuter.
