William C. Long

William Calvin Long, 85, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Dorn VA Medical Center.

Born on September 14, 1928, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Leila Lodocia Long Long. He was married to the late Gertrude Hazel Goodman of Lufkin, TX on May 23, 1955. Mr. Long was employed as a civil service employee with the federal government and later became a dairy herdsman. He served in the Army in 1946 and again from 1950-1951. He was the brother of Robert Edward Long and Elizabeth Ann (John W.) Long Rawls who both predeceased him.

He is survived by a son, Calvin Long II, two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 10, 2014, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Richard Albert and Rev. Elford Roof. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church, PO Box 678, Prosperity, SC 29127.
