William Cecil Harmon, 75, of Prosperity, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Providence Hospital.
Born on July 17, 1938, in Joanna, he was a son of the late James Cecil and Ruth Grogan Harmon. He was employed with Whitten Center for many years and later worked for Champion International and Louis Rich as a security officer. He was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church and the Prosperity Masonic Lodge # 115. Mr. Harmon was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle Wilson Harmon; daughters, Kay (Ronnie) Porter of Prosperity and Donna (Jay) Porter of Newberry; brothers, Wayne (Pauline) Harmon of Prosperity and Jimmie (Sheila) Harmon of Newberry; a grandson, R. W. “Will” Porter. He was predeceased by a sister, Vera Mae “Sissy” Harmon.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, February 10, 2014, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Porter, 146 Bearington Drive, Newberry and will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127. Active pall bearers will be his daughters, sons-in-law, and his grandson.
