William David “Bill” Kibler, 87 of Newberry, widower of Katheryn Helms Kibler, died July 23, 2015 at his residence.
Born on June 27, 1928, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late William David Kibler, Sr. and Agnes Ringer Kibler. He was a graduate of Newberry College. He was a United States Army Veteran and taught school in Raeford, NC and Whitmire, SC prior to his career in banking. He retired after 35 years of service from South Carolina National Bank. He attended The School of Banking at Louisiana State University. Mr. Kibler served on the board for the Newberry Electrical Cooperative for 33 years, and was chairman for 25 years. He served on the Central Board of State Cooperatives for 24 years. He served on the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Board and was a former member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Newberry. He was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Adult B Sunday School Class and the Joy Fellowship. He served on the Finance Committee, Cemetery Committee, and was a former Chairman of the Church Council.
Mr. Kibler is survived by a son, Keith (Roxanne) Kibler of Statesboro, GA; a granddaughter, Lauren Kibler and her fiance', Jeremy Colson; a brother-in-law, Lewis Ringer; nieces; Sharon (Billy) Derrick, Lynn(Bubba) Cromer, Pat (Darren) Riley; and a nephew, Larry(Rosemary) Helms. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald L. Kibler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church Family Life Center 2461 St. Philip's Church Road Newberry, SC 29108.
