William E. "Hop" Cassady

William E. “Hop” Cassady, Jr., 74, of Newberry died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born on January 13, 1942, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Willie Edward and Josephine Wicker Cassady. He was a graduate of Newberry High School and served in the S.C. National Guard. He retired from Kayser-Roth and was currently employed by the Newberry County Council on Aging.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Branton Cassady; sisters, Annette(Jack) Manly of Newberry, Georgia Aman of Prosperity, and Linda (Jack) King of Laurens; brothers, Wayne (Linda) Cassady of Newberry and Doug (Debbie) Cassady of Prosperity; mother-in-law, Harriett Allen of Liberty; brother-in-law, Billy (Pam) Branton; sister-in-law, Angela (Lee) Chappell; nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Katharine Chappell.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe and the Rev. Dr. Jack Manly. The family will be at the home of Lee and Angela Chappell, 5582 Hwy 395, Newberry and they will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Newberry County Council on Aging, 1300 Hunt Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Newberry County Animal Shelter, 240 Public Works Drive, Newberry, SC 29108.
