William Franklin “Bill” Miller, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at his home in Prosperity, SC. He was born on June 24, 1934 in Charleston, WV. He was a son of the late Angelo and Gertrude Layne Miller.
Mr. Miller retired from Midwest Corporation in Nitro, WV where he worked for 35 years. After moving to Prosperity, he worked several part-time jobs. He worked at Lorex Drugs in Newberry, Best Home Center in Chapin and Lake Murray Hardware in Ballentine.
Bill's favorite pastime was fishing on Lake Murray, watching West Virginia football and working in his yard and garden. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many, many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arbutus Davis Miller; children, William “Billy Joe” Miller of Proctorville, OH, Terry (Bernard) Belville of Prosperity and Sondra (Joe) Hansford of Irmo; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Miller of Prosperity; a brother, John Miller of Florida; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert “Robbie” Miller.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 9, 2014, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3225 Sunset Blvd, Suite 100, W. Columbia, SC 29169.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs Angel Care and Hospice Care of S.C.
Active pallbearers will be B.J. Belville, Matt Hansford, Chris Hansford, Randy Dowdy, Jerry Dowdy and Eddie Miller.
