William Greene

William Dargan Greene, 76, of Prosperity, died Monday, July 15, 2019 at Carroll Campbell Place.

He was born on October 22, 1942 in Columbia at Providence Hospital to the late Calvin Addison Green Jr. and Annie Laurie Hutchinson Green. He graduated from Dreher High School in 1960 and then joined the Navy where he served on the USS Intrepid and the USS Enterprise. In 1963 he went to work at Allied Chemical which later became Honeywell from which he retired in 1999. Mr. Greene was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church.

Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Peeples Greene; sons, David (Marylee) Greene and Michael (Joanna) Greene both of Columbia; brothers, Calvin (Sylvia) Green II of Southaven, MS, Richard T. (Debbie) Boswell of Brookhaven, GA and Robert L. (Cele) Boswell of Eutawville; grandchildren, Matthew Greene, Kelsey Greene, Adam Greene and Anna Greene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steve Counts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Mt.
