William "Bill" Lindler

William Howard “Bill” Lindler, 85, of Newberry, widower of Sue Halfacre Lindler, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at his home.

Born on October 24, 1937, in Fairfield County, SC, he was a son of the late John Lomas Lindler, Sr. and Lila Stoudemire Lindler.  He graduated from Monticello High School in 1955 and was a 1960 graduate of Newberry College. He retired as a Post Master with the United States Postal Service.  Mr. Lindler was a member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church and had served in the South Carolina National Guard.

He is survived by a daughter, Beth (Stephen) Stickler of Oak Ridge, NC; a son, John (Cindy) Lindler of Newberry; a sister, Martha Jo Mahaffey of Lancaster; grandchildren, Rhett Lindler, Reid Lindler, Erin Stickler, Conner Stickler and William Stickler.
Mr. Lindler was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Simpson Wharton, Mabel Cain, Annie Laura Graham and Sue Grant and brothers, John L. Lindler, Jr., Robert Lindler, Phillip Lindler and Mack Lindler.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dr. Timothy Erskine.  The family will receive friends following the service.  Memorials may be made to Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, 1211 Calhoun Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
