William Presley “W.P.” Hendrix, 66, of Little Mountain, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 3, 1945, in Silverstreet, he was a son of the late Joseph “Joe” and Jessie Mae Derrick Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix was retired from Lance and was an entrepreneur who was involved with numerous successful business ventures. He was a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church where he was Vice-President of the Lutheran Men and also a Church Council Member
He is survived by his wife, Linda Nelson Hendrix; a son, Brian Joseph (Tammy) Hendrix of Chapin; a daughter, Renee Hendrix (Bill) Hennessee of Ballentine; sisters, Mary Longshore and Dollie Creekmore both of Newberry; a brother, Henry Boyd Hendrix of Newberry and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2461 St. Philip’s Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 537 Long Point Road, Suite 203, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
Active pallbearers will be Russell Franklin, Chad Hendrix, Todd King, Joe Leatherman, Alan Longshore, Ken Nelson, Ron Nelson and Todd Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lutheran Men of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church.
