William "Billy" Rikard

William “Billy” Moore Rikard, 94, of Newberry, died Friday, December 7, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on October 3, 1924, in Newberry County he was the son of the late Leland Epps and Leona Counts Rikard. He was a World War II Army veteran and was retired from J.P. Stevens. Mr. Rikard was a lifelong member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church having been reared in King's Creek A.R.P Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder and later moving to the Newberry A.R.P. Church where he was a member of the Friendship Sabbath School Class and in 2017 he was awarded Elder Emeritus.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Julia Shirey Rikard; a daughter, Terri (John) Evans of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Patricia Alexander of Whitmire and a special niece, LeaAnn (Robert) Miller and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Newberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Seth Yi and Chaplain Lt. Col. Robert A. Miller. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Newberry A.R.P. Church, 1701 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Kay, Leonard McCullough, Dean Brown, Warren Bowers, Jean Williamson and Clyde Brown.
