Willie Hassel “Hack” Hendrix, 80, of Newberry, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 09, 2018 after losing his battle with cancer in the comfort of his home.
He was born in Newberry on November 27, 1937, to the late William Hassel and Fannie Mae (Bouknight) Hendrix. He was enlisted as a National Guardsman for 9-10 years. He worked at American Fiber & Finishing (AF&F) for an undisclosed amount of years before retiring to own and operate the By-Pass 76 Shell Station. He was the owner/operator of the Shell Station for many years and was well-known and loved by many people.
Hack is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rose Mary Hendrix; brother Frank (Linda) Hendrix of Clinton; sisters, Billie Lominick and Mae Woodward, both of Newberry; Sons, William Wilson Hendrix of Newberry, Ricky (Glenda) Hendrix of Batesburg, Hassel Eugene (Marie) Hendrix of Prosperity, Steven (Shannon) Hendrix of Newberry and William Fischer of California; daughters, Lisa Ann Roton (Buster) and Yvonne Fischer (Christo), both of Newberry. Sister-in-laws Blanche Robertson and family; Charlene (Steve) Kristie and family; 3 brothers and 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews in England.
He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: (Wilson) Jessica (Corey) Shealy, children: Makenzy, Justin and Jacob; Cody Dunaway; (Ricky) Amanda (Troy) Efthemes, children: Ashlyn, Kaitlyn and Courtlyn; Rebecca (Josier) Oquendo; Brittany (Joshua) Leonhardt, children: Ariana and Jordyn; (Gene) Gena (Scott) Roton, child: Drake; Tonya Price (James), child: Ryan; Steven (Hailey) Price, children: Ava and Gunnar; Kelly (David) Allen, children: Harley, April, and Cole ; (Steven) Marie Roton and Dustin Hendrix; (Lisa) Jennifer Milner (Willie), child: Logan; Collin Roton; (Yvonne) Felicia, Leann, Matthew, and Jessinia, child: AJ.
Hack is also preceded in death by his brothers, Wilson, Henry, and Robert Hendrix; and an infant sister.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 19, 2018 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel.
